Adoption Associates Inc.
Adoption Associates, Inc. (AAI), a nonprofit adoption agency in the state of Michigan, has placed over 4,800 domestic and international children within the United States since its creation in 1990. In 2010, AAI implemented the BOTTLES FOR BABIES PROJECT in the Michigan school systems (primarily aimed at elementary schools). This Project helps to provide infant formulas for orphans residing in our program villages -- primarily, Ethiopia. It also helps with birth mother outreach as the monies earned to go promote adoption as a healthy option to pregnant women. Students are encouraged to do extra chores around the house or for neighbors/family members to fill the over-sized baby bottle bank (provided for each classroom) with coins for a designated period of time. In addition, each teacher is provided with math, reading and social studies lessons for Africa; work sheets; and posters to use in their classrooms as they see fit. While this is a fundraising opportunity for AAI, it is a cross-subject learning opportunity for students by learning about adoption/foster care, etc. and helping those less fortunate. This is a tremendous learning experience in the classrooms while at the same time, helping to unite more children with their forever families, one penny at a time.
